Crown Biblical Financial Study Life Group - Place & Time TBD

The Five Love Languages Study - Place & Time TBD

Many books can inform, but only the Bible can transform.

Our Marriage Builders group is open to all couples. Those to-be-married or just-married, which are sometimes referred to as part of the Ideal group. Those from the ORdeal group, couples married long enough to know that a good marriage really takes commitment and effort. And also couples from the NEW-deal group, those that may have been thinking of looking elsewhere in search for that ideal marriage relationship. No matter what kind of marriage "deal" you are currently in, we believe that God's Word has the answers (REAL-deal) to help you improve your marriage relationship.

What the Bible says About Marriage

  • Is God's Idea
  • All that God created is good, but marriage is seen by God as "very good"
  • God created Eve and brought her into Adam's life because Adam was incomplete
  • At it's core, is about companionship
  • By design, is intended for one husband and one wife, for life
  • Involves the establishment of a brand-new household
  • Is intended to be an intimate union  (1 * 1 * 1 = 1)

We Believe in the Sanctity of Marriage and Family

We believe that God instituted marriage and family as the basic building block of human culture. We further believe that God has established marriage as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman for life.

Maryland High Court Affirms Marriage - dateline September 18, 2007
Maryland’s highest court today upheld a state law that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Today's ruling sends the matter back to the Legislature.
Constitutional amendment still needed to protect it from the Legislature.

Be a Marriage Builder

Our group has three goals...

  • search the scriptures together to see what the Bible has to say to us about marriage
  • work together towards the application of God's Biblical principles within our own marriage
  • fellowship with other couples, and learn from one another's experiences

...and we have three membership rules:

  • share nothing with the group about our marriage, which might embarrass our mate
  • keep confidences of information which may be shared inside the group
  • feel free to participate or pass on any discussion topic or group activity

Remembering our engagements, weddings, and anniversaries

One of our past studies, based on the biblical principles, is as follows:

For the Guys…

In a time of cultural confusion about the husband's role, here is a series for men that clears things up -- with specific guidelines from God's Word. In each of six lessons video presentations Dr. Bruce Wilkinson shows husbands what it means to be a godly leader. By mastering the art of "headship", and learning to love our wives as Christ loved the church.

For the Gals…

Dr. Bruce Wilkinson and his wife Darlene will teach women precisely what the role of the wife was designed to be. Not according to our culture, and not according to psychologists, but according to the unchanging truth of God's Word. You'll explore Biblical perspectives on the word "helper", and you'll see why "submission" is not a sentence to be served, but a privilege to delight in.

For the Guys

We are called to Lead - and Love - Sacrificially

A Husband is to lead in his marriage by example and sacrificially, not by ordering or constantly instructing his wife. He is never, and I mean never, to tell his wife what the Scriptures say she should do. Rather, his only focus is to be on loving his wife as Christ loved the church - that is, sacrificially.

For the Gals

We are called to Help

The wife is called to be the helper and should do her very best to trust her husband to lead and come along side him having faith that God is in his decisions. This does not mean she should do something she knows is scripturally wrong and it does not mean she should remain silent but it does mean that when it comes down to making that final decision she should submit to him.

Marriage Quote

Churches are not destroyed by differences.

Families are not destroyed by differences.

Marriages are not destroyed by differences.

They are destroyed by the immature, irresponsible,

and unhealthy ways we choose to respond to those differences.

Southern Baptists... You are right!   Thank You for speaking out with your Baptist Faith & Message Article XVIII. - The Family.  At a time when divorce is destroying the fabric of our society, you have taken a bold stand for biblical principles of marriage.

Faith and Message XVIII - The Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.

Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.

The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.

Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.
